Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Anders Samuelsen visits Better Energy
14 August 2017
Michael Vater, EVP Business Development & PR, gave a brief introduction to Better Energy and its global capabilities. By owning the entire value chain, Better Energy has been able to utilise its market expertise in all stages of solar development to achieve better capital and operating efficiency.
“Our goal is to make solar power cost-competitive to traditional generation technologies, even without subsidies. We have been able to find cost reduction opportunities by integrating all the major elements of our supply chain from end-to-end,” explained Michael Vater.
Technology alone is not the driving force in the energy sector. New business models are critical to the deployment of solar power and the transformation of the energy system. Better Energy has been successful in devising optimal financing structures and innovative business models that are necessary to generate a sustainable market for solar technology.
Anders Samuelsen has headed the ministry since November 2016 and has set forth a new vision to double the export of energy technology from approximately €9.4 billion in 2015 to at least €18.8 billion in 2030. Seizing the opportunities of globalisation – economic and technological diplomacy – has been identified as one of the five main themes in the foreign policy strategy for 2017-2018.
